 Heatset/Coldset Web-Offset Blacks

•50-50 Black

50-50 Book Black is a uniquely successful hybrid formulation derived from our Nova and Sigma Heatset Web Offset Blacks. As its name implies, 50-50 is an even mixture of the two inks. 50-50 offers you the best features of both inks combined into one. 50-50 has slip, scuff resistance, blue tone and tack similar to Nova, yet the smoothness, density, economy, and excellent drying ability of Sigma Black. 50-50 was formulated for use on offset stock, absorbent textbook stocks, forms stock, and newsprint stock where a semi-gloss ink excels in printability. On no heat presses, 50-50 can be used without heat assist because of its excellent setting properties, especially if you are planning on printing on an absorbent stock. Without heat, 50-50 will provide a non-marring finish within minutes similar to a quickset ink, but at a fraction of the cost. To improve your flexibility, 50-50 is available in a variety of tacks. Also, 50-50 "SB" is offered with a slightly gelled body, so that it can be handled in buckets as well. See the following chart for more information about 50-50 Book Black. Remember, all 50-50 Blacks are considered "Special Order" inks, so when you order, please be prepared to purchase as close to four drums as possible.

•60-40 Black

The "60-40" line of inks is small, but packs a real value punch! Similar in design and purpose to 50-50 Black, 60-40 is trimmed down in features and also in cost. To simplify matters, 60-40 comes in only one tack range. 60-40 is sixty percent of our K-3 Heatset Base Black, and forty percent of our Sigma heatset black finished ink. The result: a stunningly dense, smooth printer for a cost not much more than offset newsink! Use 60-40 Black on offset stock, absorbent textbook stocks, supercal stock, newsprint, and forms stock. 60-40 is available in three variations regular, low VOC (great for running no heat on low quality news stocks), and soy oil-based. Please see the chart below for more information about 60-40 Black.

30-70 Black

The last of our unique low-cost heatset/no heat book blacks, 30-70 Black is a low-tack, high viscosity ink very well suited for smaller web presses with more primitive inking systems. 30-70 Black has a short, viscous body made from seventy percent K-3 Heatset Base Black and thirty percent of Sigma heatset web finished ink. Common problems such as misting and water balance problems are generally overcome when using 30-70 Web Book Black. On older presses, where maintenance has not been optimal, 30-70 Black can help. Use 30-70 Black on offset stock, absorbent textbook stocks, supercalendered stock, newsprint, and forms stock. 30-70 STAB is great for running no heat on low quality news stocks. Please see the chart below for more information about 30-70 Black.
