UniBase Black

Send me more info about this product...

A very large range of pigment dispersions is made by Kerley Ink Above, carbon black is being dispersed in our laboratory. We have what you are looking for...

UniBase™ Base Black is a mineral oil-free, VOC-free dispersion of 50% offset-grade, gloss carbon black. UniBase Black can be used for such purposes as high adhesion inks for plastic surfaces and also for folding box inks in addition to ecologically sound publication and commercial offset formulations. UniBase Black is also very suitable for any no heat web offset formulation and can be made laser-compatible with the addition of a very small amount of metallic drier. Since UniBase is so strong, it can even be used for heatset ink formulations!

Product viscosity is relatively low, meaning that inks can be made easily using lower-power mixing equipment. UniBase has about 32% bio-renewable content (BRC). UniBase Black base forms the backbone of all of Kerley's "EcoBrite" VOC-free black sheetfed inks. All of the oil-based portion of UniBase Black is drier-reactive, meaning that all of UniBase Black will polymerize quickly to a solid film, provided driers are added and the printed film is exposed to adequate oxygen. UniBase can be used for bake-on litho metal decorating inks.

UniBase Black has very good drying/curing characteristics. When storing UniBase Black, keep it covered with skin paper or a light layer of spray-on vegetable oil.
