RadionBase PBX Black is a radiation-curable dispersion of 30% Carbon Black (Pigment Black 7) in a mixed oligomer system. This vehicle system has been optimized for use in paper and board, with possible applications with some surface-treated or oxidized films as well. Recommended dosage of RadionBase PBX Black is 40%-55% by weight in a finished ink. RadionBase PBX series energy-curable bases feature soft easy-to-handle viscosity with excellent pigmentation levels.
Typically used to make Process Black inks, 40% to 60% of RadionBase PBX Black by total formula weight is considered a normal loading for most paste ink formulas. Excellent results for coated and uncoated stock litho & web offset ink formulas can be obtained by blending RadionBase PBX dispersions with Radion Vehicle UVP composite letdown varnish. Dense black inks made with RadionBase PBX Black can also benefit from the addition of 4%-8% of RadionBase PBX Phthalo Blue to increase the blue tone of the dense black ink formula. RadionBase PBX series bases can be used for mercury UV, HUV, and LED UV formulas.
