Resin... a very large part of all ink vehicles is typically supplied as a hard, crystalline flake like the sample above. Kerley Ink takes resin and other ingredients and cooks them together to make millions of pounds of ink vehicles and varnishes every year.

QSG AF ECON, a Quick Set Gel economy vehicle, has been a popular offering from Kerley for several years now. QSG AF ECON is formulated to make high-performance quick-setting inks for high speed sheetfed presses, where extremely rapid setting must occur while not sacrificing transfer or gloss. QSG AF ECON can be used for laser-compatible coldset web forms as well as for conventional (non-laser) business forms inks. QSG AF ECON is composed of a high-melt gelable phenolic resin, a new-tech modified hydrocarbon resin, plus a high-wetting, tough-drying vegetable oils. When QSG is used as the sole letdown vehicle in a formula, the resulting ink will dry to a tack-free state in minutes, but set overnight to a tough finish when metallic drying catalysts like cobalt are used in the ink formula.

QSG AF ECON is a quick-setting, economically priced vehicle designed to be used in economy sheetfed lithographic formulations as well as for conventional (non-laser) business forms inks.

Use QSG AF ECON to formulate low-cost, low-VOC, stay-open inks for sheetfed offset & no heat web offset printing inks. The addition of cobalt and/or manganese driers will help boost the film curing rate of QSG AF ECON. Sheetfed inks made with QSG AF ECON have very fast initial set speed for quick turn-around times.

QSG AF ECON uses Linseed & Soy oils as the primary vegetable oils. QSG AF ECON has a medium-high gel body. QSG AF ECON can also be used in combination with other vehicles. An example of this would be to combine QSG AF ECON vehicle with QSG HI GEL Heavy Gel vehicle to produce a quickset ink with higher viscosity but with even faster setting characteristics.
