Despite the current popularity of soy oil-based forms inks, we still see a healthy demand for our older and well-established petroleum-based forms line, named "Formsmaster Black". And there's some compelling reasons why: first, there's the low cost of Formsmaster. Second, Formsmaster Black penetrates quite well into semi-hard uncoated stocks, so its setting even outstrips Soytex, our Soy Oil-based Black. Third, Formsmaster has less than 4% VOC's, so it's not much less environmentally friendly than some of its soy-based counterparts. In short, Formsmaster remains a bargain.
Formsmaster Black
Formsmaster Black is a unique line of inks especially formulated for modern web offset forms printing. Formsmaster Black is essentially a stable, mineral oil-based formulation of high viscosity and pigmentation, and low VOC content. And its higher tack greatly aids predictable, stable lithographic behavior. Formsmaster Black is formulated with our famous "40 Plus" Universal Base Black to give excellent color strength and a harder, more smear-resistant finish. What all of this adds up to is a unique ink that has all of the rapid setting characteristics of newsinks, but the strength of a high quality sheetfed ink. Also, several "Special Order" versions of our basic Formsmaster Black are now available: a high-flow version for presses without fountain agitators or with shallow fountains, and a toned series for more discerning customers who want the ultimate in blue tone and density. Various tack ranges of Formsmaster Black are suitable for all types of forms stock, offset stock, and harder grades of newsprint stock. See the chart below for more details.
